Cardiac Rehab is a medically supervised program designed to help improve your cardiovascular health if you have experienced a heart attack, stent placement, open heart, valve surgery, or heart failure.

Cardiac Rehab is a 3-dimensional program which involves:

    • Exercise
    • Education
    • Encouragement

Cardiac Rehab sessions include:

    • Monitored  heart rate and rhythm
    • Blood pressure
    • Weight
    • Education sessions
    • Smoking cessation
    • Option to visit with a dietician

Outpatient Cardiac Rehab

Phase II Cardiac Rehab

Phase II Cardiac Rehab is an exercise program that is physician ordered for an individual who has had one of the following:

  • Heart attack
  • Heart valve surgery
  • Heart surgery
  • Stable angina
  • Cardiac stents
  • CHF or congestive heart failure

Phase II cardiac rehab involves:

  • Individualized exercise prescription
  • Continuous EKG monitoring
  • Cardiac rehab nurse present for entire session
  • Blood pressures monitored frequently while exercising
  • Circuit type training on various modes of exercise equipment
  • 6-12 week program based upon physical condition and personal goals
  • Education on heart disease, risk factors, lifestyle modification, and diet

Cardiac rehab is billed to Medicare and private insurances.

Phase III Cardiac Rehab

Phase III Cardiac Rehab is for patients that have completed Phase II or those with risk factors for heart disease.

  • Personal exercise prescription
  • Blood pressure checked pre and post exercise
  • Physician order is required
  • Education provided as needed

Cost:

  • $5.00 per visit
  • Not covered by Medicare or private insurance
  • Billed monthly

Pulmonary Rehab is an educational and exercise program that helps those with moderate to severe lung disease.

  • Physician referral required
  • Individualized exercise prescription
  • Frequent monitoring of oxygen levels, heart rate, and blood pressure
  • Cardiac/Pulmonary rehab nurse present for exercise session
  • 6-12 week program based on patient goals and physical condition
  • Education provided on medications, breathing techniques, work simplification, and smoking cessation
