I have been an employee of Sioux Center Health for the past 4 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant for Hospice and Home Care and also as a pool Certified Nursing Assistant at Crown Pointe Assisted Living. I have always had a passion for helping people.
My mom was blessed to have Sioux Center Health come into her home 13 years ago when she was put on hospice because of terminal cancer. That’s when I witnessed firsthand what hospice was all about. We could not have done it without Sioux Center Health. Hospice was a wonderful service to honor my mom’s wishes for dying at home. After her death, I thought about the health care field-especially hospice.
6 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and endured much pain and many surgeries. Having cancer and surviving it made me think about doing things I have been putting off because life can change so quickly. I went to Sioux Center Health and talked to the head of hospice and she told me what qualifications I needed to work for Hospice and Home Care as a CNA. I honestly love my job. I have met and cared for so many wonderful people. Because of the close relationships we develop, it can be difficult at times but knowing we are the hands and feet of Jesus makes it all worth it. My prayer for each person I care for is that they have integrity until their last day on earth and that they be blessed as they have blessed my life. I am so grateful to work with such a caring group of people and truly feel that this career is what I was called to do. Working for Sioux Center Health Hospice and Home Care has given me confidence and a purpose.Leave a reply →
