My name is Keith Heidema, and I am a senior track athlete at Dordt College. Over my past four years as an athlete, I have had the opportunity to work with Trent Geleynse, a physical therapist from Sioux Center Health, multiple times a week and have been very pleased with my experience. I didn’t know what to expect at my first appointment because I didn’t realize how much my body was out of alignment. I later came to realize the importance of aligned hips and how they can go on to affect other parts of the body such as hamstrings, knees, and the back.
Other than the opportunity to get to know Trent personally, what really stood out to me was the effectiveness of Trent’s treatment. In high school I dealt with a lot of hamstring and hip flexor pain, so much that I didn’t think it would ever go away. I thought pain was something I would always have to run through. Upon seeing Trent a couple times and getting my hips aligned, I found much of the pain went away immediately. This was the first time I had ever experienced relief from my hamstring pain when running. I also appreciated the stretches he would give me to help align my hips naturally. When I finally became dedicated enough to do them every day, I found my hips would stay aligned.
I’m very pleased with the results I have experienced through my time with Trent. I have experienced relief in a way that I never thought was possible. Since seeing Trent, I have yet to pull a hamstring or a hip flexor which was a common occurrence beforehand. Trent has given me the opportunity to compete at a higher level in track and field, because I am now capable of trusting my body to be healthy every day.
I would definitely recommend Sioux Center Health to others seeking help for their sport specific needs. They have the knowledge about the complexity of the body that allows them to effectively treat the problem and not just the symptoms. I have visited many chiropractors and physical therapists in the past who have only targeted the symptoms and weren’t able to tell me what is really going on. Trent was the first therapist who was able to tell me what was going on and was able to help me with my pain.
